The Gator Detachment is active in the community with an honor guard that frequently attends military funerals, color guards and patriotic ceremonies. The unit has a progressive Toys for Tots program and also sponsors the Milton Lewis Young Marines, the National Unit of the Year 2009. The Tri-County Detachment members serve in Trenton, Chiefland, Old Town and Cross City. They provide Honor Guards and Color Guards frequently to the community, and conduct regular visits to the VA Medical Center in Gainesville. They run a Toys For Tots campaign covering three counties and have a lively MCL Auxiliary. The SgtMaj Thomas H. Griggs Detachment continues to be active in its community, aggressively supporting the local VA medical center's nursing home. They have an active MCL Auxiliary and are working diligently to make the Marine Corps League a more prominent organization in the Lake City/Live Oak area.
